Hosting a fantastic dinner party wouldn’t be complete without having some dinner party games. Sure, you may think a bunch of adults sitting around to enjoy a nice meal doesn’t need to play silly board games, but perhaps you are incorrect. Having a plan to enjoy some dinner party games is an excellent way to break the ice with your guests and, in turn, leave your guests laughing all the way home. Here are seven fun, easy to do, dinner party game ideas for adults:
Two Truths and a Lie
This game is a fun way to get to know your DinDin Party guests. At the beginning of the night start the introductions by playing a game of Two Truths and a Lie. Each guest takes a turn sharing a little about themselves. While they are telling the other guests a little background, so they get to know them better, they will share three stories or facts – two of them being true and one being a lie. Then the other guests must guess at which tale was the lie.
Apples to Apples
This is a game that requires some space, as it has a lot of cards and needs space for players to put cards down on the table. Apples to Apples is a fun adult dinner party game idea that you and your guests can enjoy before serving the main meal or during dessert time. You can buy Apples to Apples at any local retailer or online.
Who Am I?
This is an amusing guessing game that requires little to no room to play. Write a famous person down on a sticky note. Place one sticky note near each guest’s placemat. Using the rule that only 20 questions may be asked, try to figure out which famous person is on the sticky note of each guest. Take turns until everyone has had a chance to be asked 20 questions.
The Song Game
Have your dinner guests split up into teams, at least 2 per team, but you can determine how to evenly split up guests. There will be one word given, and each team must think of as many songs that include that word in the title or lyrics. Here’s the twist, if the word is contained in a song lyric the guest must sing that lyric out loud.
Old School Dance Game
Have your guests divide up into teams. Using a popular dance from their high school days, each team must choreograph a dance routine that is no more than 2 minutes long. This dance must be based exactly upon how one would have danced back in their high school days. Have a lot of laughs with your guests as you each step back in time with this old school dance game.
The Quote Game
Place one sticky note with a famous quote under each guest’s plate before they are seated. When dinner is done, have each guest speak their quote. Then go around the table clockwise to have each guest speak one word of that quote, continue around until the full quote is repeated one word at a time by each guest. If someone stumbles, start over again.
The Freeze Game
Nominate one guest to be Mr. or Ms. Freeze. This person must periodically freeze throughout the evening at the dinner party. When this person freezes, the rest of the guests much freeze. The last person to freeze out of all of the guests loses. This can carry on all night with the loser taking the next turn to be Mr. or Ms. Freeze.
There you have just a few of the best dinner party games for adults. Each of these dinner party game ideas certainly will leave your guests knowing that they will always have a memorable dinner party when you are the host.
